FTGS Section Name
I propose to change the name of the section to the Feminist Theory & Gender, Race/Ethnicity, & Sexuality Studies Section. This would reflect and recognize the intersectionality/diversity of both our research agendas and our identities and hence be a more accurate reflection of our section members and interests. The title is also more inclusive, inviting broader participation in future conferences.

While I agree that a name change would present the advantages you list, I am wondering if a shorter, more manageable name could be found. It may seem a trivial issue, but try write on your resume that you are a member of the Feminist Theory and Gender, Race/Ethnicity and Sexuality Studies Section..... or tell an interviewer for other than an academic job! Could we at least find a pronounceable acronym? :-) catia
While I share Francine's sentiments, I agree with catia here. FTGS has tressed diversity and intersectionality from the start. We have established ourselves at ISA with our current name. Our commitment to diversity and intersectionality should be reflected in everything we do. Not eveything is in the name.

there's also already an ethnicity/nationalism/migration section that might be unhappy with the 'ethnicity' part of the new name ...
If it's an option, I quite like the idea of incorporating 'sexuality' into the title, and it would only change the existing acronym slightly (FTGSS)...

I fully support the name change or some shorter name that captures sexuality within its ambit.
